Capitol Hill Elementary School

Capitol Hill Elementary School is participating in International Walk + Bike to School Day, October 6, by dropping off kids several blocks from the school. Most of the kids at the school take the school bus, so the kids will walk the remaining blocks to the school.
Capitol Hill, as with many southwest Portland neighborhood schools, does not have enough sidewalks to encourage walking and biking "school buses", but this event will provide students with the chance to walk together and inspire the community!

Mayor Tom Potter will join us for our fourth annual Walk to School Day event hosted by Market of Choice! Gather any time after 7:00 am at Market of Choice (SW Terwilliger Blvd. and Taylors Ferry Road) for our party. Special guests include Mayor Potter, State Representative Greg Macpherson, Principal Pam Wilson, Fire Station #10 and neighborhood police officer Mark Friedman. Market of Choice will serve hot drinks and snacks, there will be a fire truck and firefighters, we'll have prizes. Our "Walking School Bus" will depart for school at 7:30. We'll cross Terwilliger to SW 6th, and walk down Hume Street all the way to school, arriving by 7:50. Students can join the bus en route if they can't come to the party.
